Monica Caldas is Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Liberty Mutual Insurance. In her role, Monica leads Liberty Mutual’s global Technology organization, overseeing all aspects of information technology and data engineering across the company. Her focus is on delivering innovative technology solutions for customers and partners.

Monica joined Liberty Mutual in 2018 as Global Chief Information Officer of Global Retail Markets, leading the business unit’s transformation into a strong and aligned global organization. She spearheaded the company’s data and Win With Digital strategies and adopted new technology to support the delivery of local and global capabilities across markets. She was later named Deputy Chief Information Officer before being appointed to her current role.

Previously, Monica led global technology operations and software and data engineering across multiple lines of businesses and markets during her 17-year career at General Electric. Through her various roles, she oversaw IT operations, software development, enterprise resource planning management and global rollouts, merger and acquisition integrations, data platforms, and digital thread strategies.

Monica’s impact is widely recognized across the industry. She is a 2026 CIO Hall of Fame inductee and recipient of the 2025 MIT CIO Sloan Leadership Award. Her leadership has also been recognized by WomenTech Network, BostonCIO, Hispanic Executive Magazine, Information Services Group, Digital Insurance, and the Hispanic Information Technology Executive Council (HITEC), which have honored her among the industry’s top and most influential technology leaders.

In the community, Monica is a champion and self-starter of a variety of diversity networks for women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. She is a sponsor of the Liberty Encouraging Girls in Technology team within the company’s Women in Technology group. She is also an active member of Hispanic affinity networks.

Monica holds a BS in Business and Management Information Systems from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from Pennsylvania State University. A student of mindfulness and meditation, she also enjoys traveling and most of all, spending time with her husband, two children and their very curious rescue dog.
