Venkateswar Shankar, known as VK, joined Johnson & Johnson Technology (JJT) MedTech as Vice President, Digital Surgery Platform. VKs lead the technology engineering and architecture for the Digital Surgery platform, steering the design and implementation of R&D, Supply Chain, and Commercial IT global solutions. VK’s responsibilities also include driving digital outcomes for MedTech products and services that utilize the Digital Surgery platform, while enforcing compliance with Johnson & Johnson’s standards for quality, cybersecurity, and engineering design across all business units and Johnson & Johnson Technology.
Bringing over 20 years of experience from Intel Corporation, VK has an impressive track record as Principal Engineer and Worldwide Director – Industrial & Consumer IoT. At Intel, he formed and led a team that developed and deployed consumer IoT solutions for various applications including home automation, remote patient monitoring, and energy management. VK spearheaded a multi-million-dollar engineering program, supporting over $1 billion in revenue, and led the engineering team responsible for IoT solutions in Smart Manufacturing, Robotics, and Autonomous Vehicles. Notably, he played a key role in delivering the IntelĀ®1480 UWB Wireless Link adapter for Lenovo X300 series laptops, establishing Intel’s leadership in Smart TVs, and pioneering over-the-top streaming applications like Netflix and Vudu on Smart TVs and Blu-Ray devices.
Residing in Arizona, VK enjoys a fulfilling personal life with his wife and their two daughters. In his free time, VK is an avid music enthusiast, particularly enjoying Indian Classical Jazz. Additionally, he has a passion for rebuilding classic cars, having recently completed a 1968 Mustang and now working on a 1983 BMW. VK’s blend of professional excellence and personal hobbies reflects a dynamic individual contributing significantly to both his industry and community.
