
Robert S. Allen is a four-time Fortune 500 Chief Information Security Officer and currently serves as Global CISO and Responsible AI Officer at Arthur J. Gallagher. Over his career, he has built and transformed cybersecurity programs across global organizations, consistently aligning security with business strategy, enterprise risk, and financial outcomes.
At Gallagher, Robert led the build-out of a global cybersecurity program supporting more than 75,000 colleagues across 14 business units during a period of rapid growth and 50+ acquisitions per year. He introduced a FAIR-based risk model that enables executive teams and Boards to make data-driven decisions, contributing to more than $500 million in measured risk reduction. He also leads Responsible AI efforts, guiding governance and risk practices as AI adoption accelerates.
Previously, Robert held CISO roles at General Electric, CNA Financial, and Brighthouse Financial (MetLife), where he built trusted, business-aligned security programs in highly regulated environments.
Robert holds a degree from the University of Western Ontario, Canada and completed executive education at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, as well as GE’s Crotonville leadership program.
He has received numerous industry honors, including ORBIE Awards and the FAIR Institute’s Cyber Risk Executive of the Year. He attributes these recognitions to the strength of the teams he has worked with, and the collaborative environments built across each organization. He is committed to developing future leaders, with many former team members going on to serve as CISOs and senior executives.
Robert is a long-time supporter of the Boys & Girls Club and resides outside of Chicago with his wife and son.
