
As chief information officer, Paul Hlivko leads the Optum Financial technology team, providing transformational leadership to create the financial operating system for healthcare, delivering exceptional value and experiences for consumers and clients.
Prior to joining Optum, Paul served as executive vice president, chief information and digital officer, for Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield. He led Wellmark’s technology, customer experience and strategy office, delivering industry best customer experience metrics, a company-wide product transformation, and a market leading cloud and data platform.
He has held various leadership roles in financial services at PNC, National City Corporation and First Niagara Bank, resulting in transformations for digital, retail banking, commercial, wealth, brokerage, and risk management. He founded two startups — a digital imaging company and an internet technology consulting business.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Mount Union College and his Master of Business Administration from Sloan at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
