Nihal Newman

Nihal leads Ofcom’s network security and resilience policy work, across telecoms and internet infrastructure sectors. She is responsible for overseeing policy aspects of Ofcom’s regulatory supervisory regimes and has oversight of a cyber security outcome testing scheme.
Nihal has a business management background, with extensive experience in leading strategic policy and technical programmes and is a member of Ofcom’s Operations Board, Senior Leadership Group and Technology Profession.
With her wealth of experience and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, she leads technology-based initiatives in the telecoms sector. Nihal led Ofcom’s initiative in 2023, uniting some of the UK’s leading telecoms organisations to sign a Women in Tech pledge, committing to promote the role of women in technology-based roles in the telecoms sector.
Prior to joining Ofcom, Nihal has worked in the transport and infrastructure, travel and tourism sectors, leading business management functions.
