Michael Kenney currently serves as Enterprise Cybersecurity Engineer at Penn Medicine. Helps to design, integrate, configure and maintain complex network security solutions in order to help protect all aspects of Penn Medicine technology. In addition to this, he prides himself on being able to understand each of the various ongoing projects and their security aspects in order to provide guidance and ensure security best practices.
Michael has held roles of increasing responsibility in Information Technology and Security during his career. Beginning his professional career in higher education in a help desk role. He worked his way up through various positions including Systems Administrator, Network Engineer, Security Engineer, Information Security Officer and Director of Information Security and Infrastructure. However, his passion for wanting to work in a more hands-on approach with technology, specifically security, landed him in his current role.
In his spare time, Michael likes to continue his passion for learning and staying current with various offensive and defense security techniques by participating in Capture The Flag (CTF) events and learning platforms. He is also an Independent Security Researcher that has helped several companies remediate issues in their applications. Michael earned a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. He also holds several certifications including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) and Offensive Security Exploitation Expert (OSEE).
