Jim Scholefield has a distinguished career spanning over 35 years in technology leadership, marked by contributions to multiple industries and some of the world’s most iconic brands.
In February 2020, Jim joined Marriott International as the Global Chief Information & Digital Officer. In this role, he oversees all aspects of global technology and digital engineering/ development. Jim plays a pivotal role in driving technology modernization to support Marriott’s future growth, both within its core lodging business and new ventures. His leadership is instrumental in ensuring Marriott remains at the forefront of technology innovation and customer experience.
Prior to joining Marriott, Jim was Chief Information & Digital Officer at Merck & Co. There he led a large global organization focused on implementing new technologies and digital capabilities that advanced Merck’s capabilities.
Prior to Merck, Jim served as Chief Information Officer at Nike, where he led enterprise technology transformation. This initiative upgraded critical infrastructure, delivered state-of-the-art cybersecurity and significantly enhanced Nike’s technology capabilities across the value chain.
Jim also spent five years as the Chief Technology Officer at The Coca-Cola Company, where he led application modernization and the company’s transition to cloud technology. This strategic move resulted in significant improvements in scalability and agility, positioning Coca-Cola for sustained technological growth. Additionally, Jim has held influential leadership roles at The Northern Trust Company and Ford Motor Company, where he contributed to key technological advancements.
Jim began his career at Procter & Gamble after earning a Bachelor of Science in Management from Florida State University and a Master of Science in Management/MBA from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Jim is a 2025 inductee into CIO magazine’s CIO Hall of Fame.
