Deepa Soni

Deepa Soni is executive vice president and chief information officer (CIO) at New York Life, serving on the company’s Executive Management Committee. She oversees enterprise technology, cyber, data and artificial intelligence. She is also responsible for New York Life Ventures, the company’s venture capital arm.

Prior to joining New York Life, Ms. Soni served as chief information and operations officer at The Hartford, where she guided technology vision, AI/machine learning and data strategy, product management and business operations — including enterprise call centers, underwriting support and servicing. Leading a global team, she played a pivotal role in delivering customer-centric solutions and advancing market differentiation. From 2019 to 2024, she served as CIO at The Hartford, driving technology and digital transformation across the enterprise.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Soni held senior leadership roles in major financial institutions, including U.S. CIO at BMO Financial Group, head of application development at M&T Bank and head of enterprise architecture at KeyBank.

Ms. Soni holds a Master of Science in electrical engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology and a Bachelor of Science in engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology.
