Damu Bashyam is the Chief Information and Innovation Officer and a member of Berkadia’s Management Committee. He is responsible for aligning technology strategy with the overall business objectives to drive innovation, enhance client experiences, and accelerate business growth and operational efficiency. In this role, he leads the organization’s comprehensive technology strategy, spanning product development, user experience design, engineering, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and enterprise IT.
Before joining Berkadia, Damu held several senior leadership roles in banking and telecommunications. As Chief Information and Digital Officer at Columbia Bank, he drove the bank’s enterprise-wide technology transformation, modernized digital banking and lending platforms, and led the acquisition and integration of regional banks. At JPMorgan Chase, he served as Chief Technology Officer for Consumer Banking, overseeing technology delivery to modernize nationwide retail banking branches, ATM networks, and debit platforms, while leading global teams to implement scalable, customer-focused innovations that transformed the client experience. Earlier in his career, Damu held CIO-level positions at Verizon for 18 years, where he led complex technology and business initiatives at the forefront of wireless transformation, driving growth and profitability.
Damu holds an MBA in General Management from the Kellogg School of Management, a Master’s in Information Systems from Stevens Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor’s in Computer Science & Engineering from Bangalore University. He has received several internal and external accolades throughout his career, including the 2025 CIO 100 Award.
A passionate advocate for innovation, workforce development, and community service, Damu serves on the Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries of New York & Northern New Jersey and contributes to several technology and AI advisory boards.
