Bob Bruns is a globally recognized cybersecurity and technology executive with nearly 30 years of experience driving enterprise-scale digital transformation. As Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Avanade—a joint venture between Accenture and Microsoft—Bob leads global information security strategy, client data protection, and business continuity programs. He was Avanade’s first-ever CISO, appointed after serving as CIO for several years, and in 2025 expanded his role to include Accenture’s global IS strategy and emerging programs, overseeing initiatives in insider risk, AI, and geopolitical risk.
Prior to Avanade, Bob spent 14 years at Accenture, where he ultimately led enterprise-wide IT strategy and infrastructure services for Accenture in addition to several additional roles. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Decision Science from the University of Illinois Chicago.
Outside the corporate sphere, Bob teaches graduate cybersecurity courses at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business and mentors future leaders. He is an executive sponsor for the Executive Women’s Forum (EWF), a founding member of the Pacific Northwest CISO ORBIE chapter, and a Forbes Technology Council member. His contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including the EWF Allyship Award, the OnCon Icon Award, the CSO50 Award for client data protection innovation and again for Security Copilot innovation, and recognition as a Top 100 Leader by both Technology Magazine and CISO Connect.
