Benjamin Turner, CIO, Allianz UK
Speaker

Benjamin Turner

CIO Allianz UK

Benjamin Turner is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Allianz UK, a role he has held since January 2023. He brings 28 years of experience in technology, with a career spanning senior leadership roles across the insurance and financial services sector. Before joining Allianz UK he served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at L&G GI and as CIO for Allianz Personal (LV=), having earlier developed his expertise in technology transformation, simplification and cloud at a leading European consultancy firm.

Since taking up the CIO role, Benjamin has led the consolidation of Allianz UK’s technology under a single, unified Technology Strategy, bringing three large organisations into one IT estate. Guided by his vision of Stability, Modernisation and Simplification, his ‘Brilliant Basics’ initiative reshaped the Technology function around customer outcomes and delivered dramatic operational improvements, including an 81.5% reduction in P1 incidents. He has since driven the move to a unified digital workplace, an API-first approach to cloud integration, and the modernisation of infrastructure through data centre consolidation and technologies such as Azure Kubernetes.

A self-described ‘people person’, Benjamin is known for empowering strong, diverse teams to deliver his strategic vision. His commitment to diversity and inclusion is also deeply personal: diagnosed with dyslexia at around the age of eight, he has spoken openly about the support, strategies and tools that have helped him build confidence and succeed throughout his education and career. Ben is a visible advocate for recognising different ways of thinking as strengths in the workplace. As Executive Sponsor of the Allianz UK Women in Technology network, he actively supports its growth, participates in events and champions practical allyship, helping to create opportunities for women to develop, progress and lead within technology. His inclusive leadership has twice seen him nominated for the Women in Insurance and Technology Best Male Ally award. He is widely regarded as a modern, authentic technology leader who leads from the front with a clear passion for IT.
