Barry Shurkey

Barry Shurkey is an accomplished IT executive responsible for the North America region within Global Corporate IT.

He leads IT delivery services and global implementations across NTT DATA North America, supporting a team of 45,000 people in 40 countries. From 2017 to 2025, Barry served as CIO for NTT DATA Services, where he led digital transformation initiatives and helped optimize the IT roadmap. Earlier in his career, he served as a senior vice president overseeing the company’s IT agreements during the acquisition of Dell Services and led the Texas Department of Transportation’s IT transformation. With more than 40 years of experience in the IT services industry, Barry has also worked in Australia on what was then the largest outsourcing agreement. He has held leadership roles with EDS, HP, Vertex Business Solutions, and Travelport.

Barry is an active leader within both the company and the broader community, with a strong commitment to inclusion. At NTT DATA, Inc., he participates in several Employee Resource Groups. He is also a frequent panelist and speaker at community events and has served for six years on the Advisory Board of the DFW Alliance of Technology and Women (ATW).

Barry has earned numerous industry recognitions, including the 2018 Corporate CIO Tech Titan Award, the 2019 D Magazine CIO of the Year Award, and the 2019 ORBIE CIO of the Year Award. He was named to Constellation’s Business Transformation 150 (BT150) in both 2020 and 2022, and to the D CEO Dallas 500 list of the most powerful business leaders for five years. He was also a finalist for the 2021 National Global ORBIE and the 2025 D CEO Innovation Award.

Barry holds a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, with a minor in Computer Science, from Central Michigan University. He has also completed executive education programs at London Business School and Thunderbird.
