The application process has been redesigned to attract diverse candidates through a new two-phase system that begins with preliminary submissions highlighting key achievements.
High-potential candidates then advance to an in-depth assessment phase where they can showcase their work through written responses, video submissions, or interviews—accommodating different communication styles.

Application criteria:
To be eligible to apply for the CIO100 Awards, applicants must be the most senior IT decision-maker within their organisation. The applicant must also have been at their current organisation for one year up until the date CIO 100 submissions open.
Consultants, IT vendors, software/hardware suppliers and market research or information services companies will not be eligible for the CIO 100. Additionally, individuals currently in the 2025 NextCIO or 2024 NextCSO cohorts will not be considered.
Applicants must also be living and working in the UK and be available for the second stage of the application process between 6th June and 6th August.
Applications will not be published, and only shared with the judging commitee.
